Well, I do think FRANKENSTEIN 1970 is a film that monsterkids should have some fun with, and I feel sorry for those who can't.

Same here, Joe.

As I mentioned elsewhere, FRANKENSTEIN 1970 was probably the first 'Frankenstein' movie I ever saw as a child. I was too young at the time to understand that this movie was not a part of Universal's Horror canon. Yet, the presence of Boris Karloff in the film gave this movie an air of legitimacy for me.

Boris Karloff was a very familiar face on television during my youth. Aside from his guest appearances on various programs, whenever a scene in a show called for a scary moment, people always imitated his voice! Not only that, but, by 1962 THE MONSTER MASH was all the craze throughout the nation. Then, of course, there was Mad MONSTER PARTY and HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS... So, yeah... Boris ( his likeness, his voice inflections, his personna ) pretty much pervaded the Horror market at the time. Even a youngster, like myself, knew who Boris Karloff was!

As for FRANKIE '70, I remember it had me scared spitless! The dark passageways, the secret lab, the murdered film crew, the body parts, ...the images haunted my dreams! Even though this film was rarely telecast ( and when it was -always too late for me to watch it.... or, at least, all of it ) It held my fascination for years and years!

Of course, after growing up I realized that this wasn't a big budget blockbuster. And not even a part of the Universal horror film pantheon. And yet.... there is still a whole lot to enjoy about FRANKENSTEIN 1970. I hadn't seen the movie from the time of my childhood until it was shown just recently on CHILLER TV. Needless to say, I made it a point to record this low budget thriller and, happily after all these years, it did not disappoint!

No, it isn't perfect... it has it's flaws. But, for what it is, I still get a big kick out of it!
