I've said this repeatedly, but as good as Ian Hendry is in it, THEATRE OF BLOOD gives you an enemy for Price that isn't all that likable, whereas Joseph Cotten in DR. PHIBES certainly is. And Robert Quarry in RISES AGAIN - even though he and Phibes come across almost as RIVAL mad scientists - is also fairly likable. So there's that reason along with others to prefer the PHIBES movies.
I don't see that this matters a bit. For one thing, we do, and in most respects should, sympathize with Lionheart, so a less-than-likable "enemy" is probably a help to the story, not a hindrance.
Secondly, Ian Hendry is a bit snippy and superior, but I don't see him as not likable.

And, again, I love the PHIBES films, but I think THEATRE OF BLOOD is a wonder. Nearly a masterpiece, and, yes, as Craig says, absolutely one of Price's best roles. Maybe his very best.

Rick I don't think I can argue with those comments in any way. All three films are wonderful, but THEATRE just gives me more pleasure.
