I checked out 1935's THE GHOST RIDER on Youtube, but I couldn't find any genre content whatever. I said much the same of 1943's HAUNTED RANCH in my Members Review.

1936's GHOST PATROL also has no ghosts, but it does have a ray that destroys electrical systems. I'm wondering if the B-western producers just stuck "ghost" into the title the way DC Comics used to stick gorillas on covers.

I reviewed PHANTOM OF THE WEST and its remake STRAIGHT SHOOTER, as well as GHOST PATROL, here:

PHANTOM and its remake are just barely genre by virtue of having a guy dress up like a supposed ghost, though there's nothing macabre in the costume and it really shouldn't fool much of anyone.

But given that many fans do allow as genre all these oaters that have masked figures skulking around, what's the objection against all the Zorro pictures, if any? Is it just that he's imposing but not scary?

I guess by that criterion ZORRO'S FIGHTING LEGION might still get in...
