While the third season will continue to run, NBC has decided not to renew the low rated cult favorite for a fourth, but series creator Bryan Fuller hopes it may continue elsewhere. Amazon, which streams the show via its Prime membership may be one possibility. Fuller had announced plans to introduce the character of Clarice Starling in a fourth season at last year's Comic Con. Details here.

Though I enjoy the series as a whole, I can totally see why it only has a cult following.  They're fairly limited in what storylines they can pursue, only having the rights to the first (Red Dragon) and last (Hannibal Rising) novels in the series.  Last episode I watched (S03E2) was fairly dull, and they sometimes go overboard with the whole "What's real, what's imagined" thing.  If Fuller can't find a new network sponsor perhaps they can end with a special coda episode that wraps everything up where Gillian Andersen & Eddie Izzard's characters make good on their predictions that Hannibal will become his own Last Supper.  Fuller circle. smiley: wink
