TARZAN OF THE MOVIES.

FIFTY films (at least) - as facts attest.

Several doing BIG box office (adjusted, probably bigger than some Bonds) - as facts attest.

Supporting merchandising across ALL fields (comics, books, toys, radio, tv) - as facts attest.

If a CENTURY does not qualify as "sustained," and wide fame plus MILLIONS earned is not seen as a "phenomenon," then someone must have recently changed the meaning of those words.
And as I said earlier. The 3 most well known worldwide fictional characters of the past 70 years or more have been: Superman, Sherlock Holmes and Tarzan. This was documented more than once. If this new Tarzan movie turns out to be a movie people are talking about and makes a sizable profit who knows? Maybe Lord Greystoke gets a well deserved boost yet again. I daresay that for Bond to endure the popularity he has had for the past 40-50 years stretched out over a century instead? That would be something I would have to see to believe.
