"No kid in the SIXTIES could recount any of the Tarzan films you've listed, since they had been done THIRTY YEARS BEFORE, while any 60's kid back then could name all of the Bond films, such was its relevance."

Are you kidding? Tarzan movies (MGM, serials, RKO, Sol Lesser) were all over the UHF airwaves. Saturdays in the Morning or Sunday Mornings before going to church. Not to mention the comic books, toys, radio, TV shows, animation and the books from ERB. It was impossible to not know Tarzan.

Now was there a Tarzan movie that singularly changed movies forever like KING KONG, BREATHLESS, PSYCHO, CITIZEN KANE, THE WIZARD OF OZ or STAR WARS? Probably not but as a series it's influence can not be taken out of the equation when discussing cinema and franchise entertainment. by the way, the influence of many classics is sometimes felt a generation later. The cult of CASABLANCA took off more in the 60s at revival houses. Anyways as a touchstone for the genre that is the jungle adventure, Tarzan the series is on the level of KING KONG, the singular movie.
