"Amazing Stories" had an hour-long episode once (I think Kiefer Sutherland and Kevin Costner were in it) about a bomber plane that could only get one wheel down to land, and their belly-gunner was stuck in his little whatchamacallit and couldn't get out--meaning that he would die as soon as they landed. It was one of the most gripping and suspenseful dramas I've ever seen on TV--until the last five minutes, which contained a bad-Spielberg ending of epic proportions that totally disgusted me and turned me off of ever watching that series again. It was just utterly mind-boggling. And the worst thing was that it could've had a similar ending that would have been infinitely more effective without the (literally) cartoony fantasy element that was used to such jarring and stomach-turning effect.

TZ's "Paladin of the Lost Hour" actually made me cry. I remember several other good episodes. And it was the first time I ever saw Bruce Willis, which was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, so to speak.
Legend, oh legend, the third wheel legend...always in the way.
