I'll be getting Gary's book eventually but I have another question in the meantime.  This film is a pre-code and we know how the studios often ignored the advice of the Hays office.  However, does Gary discuss any concerns from the Hays office either at the script stage or after the initial edit?
I believe there's a short bit about a the Hays office.  Apparently there were really no real concerns regarding the film and Browning seemed to anticipate any such problems.  There was nothing significant, that's for sure.
