Some people just aren't open-minded enough to see it that way.

Well, I can say in all honesty that with me, it's not a matter of not being open-minded. It's merely a matter of disagreeing that it's as flawed as some believe it is. You pitch me one of these 'flaws', and I bet I can give you an alternate view that you may disagree with, but you wouldn't be able to prove by something in the film that my interpretation isn't plausible. I've heard all the criticism of its staginess and continuity gaps, considered them all very carefully, and none of them work against the overall, visceral feeling I get from the film, but at times actually ADD to its effectiveness and I can support everything I say by referring to the film itself. You may completely disagree with all of it, but you can't say I'm wrong, just as I wouldn't be able to say your opposing view is wrong. It's a case of both being right.
