Or at atkalu said in the other thread: the final SCRIPT is the source of MOST of what people have seen as the film's problems over the years. Kerry and Clark's fan edits make the film a bit smoother; but it still droops mightily after the bang-up open.

Actually, nothing that Rhodes says in his book undercuts the "likely meant to have been" part at all, other than his speculations on the origins of the footage for Dracula's first visit to Mina's room, which the script demonstrate to be incorrect. And have you even seen Kerry's or my fan edits as yet?
