This is simply one of the best bond films ever made, if not THE best.
In my opinion, this film was not matched in quality from thereafter until Casino Royale, but I'd still take this one.
In hindsight, Lazenby had everything but acting experience, and even then his humor, vulnerability and toughness shine through.

My only quibble is how he and Blofeld do not instantly recognize each other from the continuity set up in You Only Live Twice, but otherwise a superb picture.
Well obviously both characters had plastic surgery done, as neither look like they did in the last film, which is why they don't recognize each other, they just must have cut the explanation scene out.
I can't agree with you here Del as to the quality of the film, it is just too long, and the characters all seem out of character, even if we have never met them before. I think a different director, different editor, and a different set of stars, would have improved this film. I guess the writing could be improved as well, as Bond himself just seems to be a different character all of a sudden, although the next film is so oddly written as well, as a follow up film. I still think overall this is a very good series.

However, I am going to re watch all the films as soon as I finish reading the corresponding books.
