[qoute="cjh5801"]As I mentioned awhile back, I've documented the fact that my re-cut of DRACULA matches the chronological structure of the continuity of both Melford's version of the film and the shooting script over in the Universal Horrors forum. It's a two-part post, beginning with post #293. If anyone cares to take a look at it, I hope it'll help convince them that it is possible to re-cut the release version of the film to match the continuity of the shooting script and Melford's Spanish-language version of the film.[/quote]

Clark,

I checked out the interesting posts of your re-edit and understand how it restores script continuity to Browning's film, however I must still regard it as a hybrid that deviates from the director's vision. I also question calling the re-edit the 'purist' version. Is it pure in its aim to strictly adhere to the script, or to the filmmakers' intentions which called for alterations to the script's continuity? However we may personally regard the decisions that Browning and others made, those decisions ultimately resulted in the final work of art. The true purist version is one that most closely resembles that.

The re-edit, for me at least, basically proves that Tod Browning was less script bound in his directorial style than George Melford was.
