Well, as much as I enjoyed reading the book, overall it doesn't prove superiority of Brownings film at all, so I'm not sure that "it's a new day for Browning and his film".

As I said before, he relies a bit too much on Cinemetrics for his arguments. To me they mean zilch when it comes to appreciation of a film. They are impressive to academics only, IMO.

Overall, those who like the Browning will always continue to do so as will those who prefer the Melford. No book will change that.
