I had the fortune to see Clark's recut this weekend, and loved it! For the first time I was able to watch Dracula without falling into a deep slumber. Instead, I just took a quick catnap! (Seriously...sleep overtook me right before the Dracula/Van Helsing confrontation, however it must be stressed this was not the fault of Clark's recut; the movie just has that effect on me.) However, unlike previous viewings, I was actually compelled to go back and see what I'd missed during my nap.

The movie flows so much more smoothly now, and the included bits improve the film in major ways. All those establishing shots really add to the vibe of the film, and the inserts are great, too - -my favorite being the closeup of the bite marks on Lucy's throat, taken from the Spanish version.

As others have mentioned, cutting back and forth from Dracula/Van Helsing to Mina/John Harker adds some much-needed suspense to what was otherwise a plodding affair.

Also it needs to be stated that Clark's edits are seamless and professionally done; a first-time viewer of the film would never know that pieces of it had been cobbled from another movie.

I've always ranked Dracula as the lesser of the Universal horrors, and to tell the truth I still do -- I'd rather even watch The Mummy's Ghost (okay, mostly because of Ramsay Ames) -- but Clark's version makes Dracula a LOT more palatable.
