I never thought this would happen but I'm finding myself getting bored with the new Doctor Who. Every season seems to be very similar. A certain amount of episodes on a space station, period, and earth bound. I know I just summed up the entire history of Who but everything seems to be the same in the new series.

Keep in mind I am still waiting to see BLINK and the rest of season 3, and though I am now enthused about season, I got off on a rocky start. I wasn't sure if my lack of enjoyment stemmed from having to put up with commercials and grainy long play VHS recordings versus crystal clear bit torrents or what... or something I sort of noticed in season 2 and feared might be a set pattern: it's not so much that they keep repeating similar story set ups, it is that they are doing them in a predictable pattern. even having managed to avoid almost any knowledge of season 3 before it's CBC broadcast, I've still managed to pretty accurately predict whether it will be a two parter, which episode is going to be a historical...etc. Or a better example would be "Okay it's episode two.... time we revisit the year Five Billion, and next week we will be on historical earth and meet a famous personality. and now I feel a two parter is due. And then some stories peppered with clues that will lead to the big two part season finale.

I like all these ingredients.... but I wish they would give it a shake up! Why not start the season off with a two parter? Why not have a straight historical? Why not have the guest starring figure from Great Britain's past be part of the two part finale?

I do wish they would give the year 5 Billion a rest. And please no more deep, scary voiced entities, especially deep scary voiced entities that poscess people. Especially deep, scary voiced entities that poscess people on ramshackle human space outposts or space ships.

A cool thing about growing up with the old DW was you never knew what kind of story would come next.
