Pulled my post from the Off Topic folder...I think some of ya's will get a kick out of it.

My dear fellow member Rapfred....
You AIN'T kidding when you say important. Looking back on my encounter with SID FIELDS, it was without doubt the "high point" of my life. I was only 10 or 11 years young at the time. But I KNEW who this great, GREAT artist was ! I met him backstage at the JACKIE GLEASON VARIETY SHOW in NYC. He was a wonderful, gracious, really funny guy. I recited a couple of Mr. Fields lines (fresh strawberry ice cream, Niagra Falls...slowly I turn...ect) and he was hooked. I think he was genuinely surprised some little kid knew his "schtik". He crouched down to me, and started rubbing his bald head.
"Hey boys, isn't this funny", he bellowed in that Fields voice. He clowned around with us like that for at least a half hour ! Got us some soda & snacks and acted like everyones grampa. He cited how much he loved ABBOTT & COSTELLO, refering to them as "The Boys". And looking back now I could sense some sadness in his facial expressions when talking bout' LOU.
It could only have been maybe 5 or 6 years since Lou's death.
It was just a wonderful, magical, experience for me.
One that believe me, was very important to me!
