I have yet to see the original. The new version, while not truly scary was way too violent and trashy. If someone is truly entertained by watching what happens during most of this film, they must be sick in the head. The plot is extremely predictable, the story has been done to death, and most of the onscreen gore was unnessecary and overdone. And this is coming from someone who loved both versions of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, ANOES, HALLOWEEN and a few of the Jason films. The film dosen't really become exiting untill the Aaron Stanford character takes matters into his own hands and turns into Ash. (By the way, since they're remaking THE EVIL DEAD (Do they have to?) Stanford would make an excellent choice.)

Anyway, If the original is anywhere near as tasteless and mind numbing as the remake, I'll pass on it, thanks. I like my horror movies well made, literate and captivating (like any of the Hammers). Even Hammer films on their WORST days were lightyears ahead of this garbage.
