Closest I've seen to an audience booing is when I went to see Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace. The audience cheered when they saw the opening title, "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..."

After the movie ended and the audience was bombarded with the poor acting of "Mannequin" Skywalker, the unfunny Jar-Jar Binks, the incredibly dull pod race, the mediocre CGI effects, the incredibly bad Yoda puppet, and the forgettable story, the audience left their seats being very quiet. I sighed and said out loud, "Well, that was 2 and 1/2 hours of my life I'll never get back." One of the audience members answered, "Yeah, well, lets hope Episode 2 will be better." I'm not quite sure it was.

I was bitterly disappointed by Episode I and Jar Jar Binks was a big part of that. I remember sitting in the theater during Episode II and when Jar Jar made his first appearance I booed quietly. A few people around me picked it up and soon the entire theater was booing him.

"Meesa ruin Star Wars?"

You betcha.

p.s. As others here have noted, I've been in many movies where the audiences cheered. Heck, a few years ago when The Woman in Black remake came out I cheered when the Hammer logo appeared.
