I think a lot of the magic of Harryhausen, aside from the imagery and artistry of the effects, was having the right amount of them and they all fit in with a coherent story, and the pacing of them and details were synced up with what normal human audiences relate to. The nonstop, fast-paced action in so many newer movies is not something I relate to, it seems tiresome. Perhaps younger folks who enjoy fast-paced action video games do relate to them more. Dunno.
