Lived in Hamilton, OH so a slight adjustment brought Ch. 19 & The Cool Ghoul in sharp & clear. The days when HD meant a stable image which stayed in color. Watching Dr. Creep called for more technical expertise. Getting up every few minutes to adjust the rabbit ears made staying awake much easier.
By the time cable arrived TCG was long gone but got to enjoy a clear Dr. Creep, Sammy Terry & for a short while Super Host. Think Red's ownership got bent out of shape cause SH's station broadcast Indians games so it didn't last long. Didn't realize how lucky we were until it was too late.
The Cool Ghoul had such a varied movie package where the 'classics' would be mixed with movies like BLOOD AND LACE.
Post Ghoul he moved on to a long career on radio.
I recorded The Cool Ghoul's final appearance on Ch. 19 where a quite ill Ghoul showed up a couple of times but was mainly represented by segments from The Glory Days where he was cutting up at Crosley Field along with some precious original segments that escaped being erased. The movie, THEATER OF BLOOD, was a late night Halloween Special. Pretty sure he died the next year.
Thanks for bringing back memories of the era when a favorite movie would be broadcast once a year instead of collecting dust on shelves with the rest of the DVD collection.
Those were good times...
God bless y'all, Dan (still in Hamilton) I Sincerely apologize for evidently killing this thread. Was unintentional.
