SINBAD THE SAILOR, an animated feature
You know, years ago I came in on the middle of a puppet animated Sinbad film and, at the time, was never able to figure out what it was or where it came from. Wonder if that might have been it? Came in probably halfway through, if not later. So long ago, I don't remember much about it, other than I kept wishing I'd seen if from the start.
Nothing like answering a post 7 years later!  Possibly you saw Brett Piper's stop motion movie?

Also, this may be old news elsewhere on the board but the Karel Zeman Museum offers DVDs of his movies with English subs.  You can get a 5 DVD set for about $44, shipping included, to the US.

Teleport City just did a big write up on some of the DVDs with a huge gallery of screen caps.
