My Recent Posts
I've been here just about a year and a half...lurking constantly, posting just occasionally, and marveling at the collected knowledge and all the obscure films I've never seen. But now I'm working on it. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, I think back to my Universal Monsters Colorforms set, a couple Aurora model kits, and a Frankenstein jigsaw puzzle that may still be in my parents' basement. This is a secondary TV market, so there were no horror hosts I recall, but I took in a ton of Godzilla movies, the Planet of the Apes films, and many of the major horror and sci-fi films. At about 9 years old, I saw the tail end of "A Night at the Opera" and remember wondering "What the f***?" (Hey, the Marx Brothers are good enough for Svengoolie!) But at some point it apparently became too much, and I shed that part of me for other pursuits. I've been on the Internet since it was called Bitnet, but never on AOL, and apparently never strayed much to the genre Usenet forums. But now I'm back. A big thank you to the founders and moderators of this site, to the industry pro's who grace us with their presence, and to all the contributors who never stopped doing the Monster Kid thing. May the best be yet to come.
