It goes without saying that Mr. McKee's film is really a triumph in terms of story, and character development.

It's also arguable. I thought MAY's promotional art was great-looking but I couldn't get into MAY from frame one. Right away I saw where the whole thing was going, had a fair idea of how it would end, and Angela Bettis' mannered performance was extremely irritating. I found McKee's grasp of character condescending and off-putting and, Jeremy Sisto's wry performance notwithstanding, the movie was a waste of time for me. Like Eli Roth and Kevin Williamson, Lucky McKee is a genre comer that I just have to live with, like athlete's foot and eczema, but I don't have to like it.
