It goes without saying that Mr. McKee's film is really a triumph in terms of story, and character development.
So very refreshing in this era of film making when style is often heralded over substance.
And I am eternally grateful to the Canadian Horror magazine "Rue Morgue" for their early support and features on this film that inspired me to go find it last year. I was certainly not disappointed. (Nor was I, on their raves about the first GINGER SNAPS film a few years earlier )

What I wanted to add to this discussion is that MAY is also a gorgeous film to look at from a purely aesthetic perspective. The art direction and the cinematography are just brilliant. Some might say that the camera work is a bit pedestrian or "safe". I disagree. I for one am not a huge fan of camera angles fighting for attention; as, it tends to take me out of the film more often than not.

Considering the budget this film had to work with, I cannot emphasize enough just what a fine job they did. It is atmospheric, and almost pseudo-documentarian at the same time.
I LOVE this film.
