Yo. Remakes don't bother me in the slightest, except insofar as money that could go to a new idea is being spent on an old one. Otherwise, they're completely harmless.

By the by, STRANGERS ON A TRAIN has already been remade as ONCE YOU KISS A STRANGER. Remember that? Probably not, but you do know about the Hitchcock movie. Just sticking to talkies, the following Hitchcock movies have all been remade, some more than once.
The Man Who Knew Too Much
The 39 Steps
Secret Agent
The Lady Vanishes
Jamaica Inn
Rebecca
Shadow of a Doubt
Lifeboat (as a science fiction movie!)
Strangers on a Train
Diam M for Murder
Rear Window
Psycho
The Birds (actually a sequel that evidenced little connection to the Hitchcock movie)

I've probably missed some
