My sincere thanks also to the founders of this place and the perpetuators of this wonderful madness.

I wish I could pin down when I first found the place.  I know it was over at AOL, and I hung around there for a while. but I don't even know if that was back in the 20th Century or later.  Part of the problem is that I had at least two lengthy absences because of busted computers that I couldn't afford to replace and then internet service that I couldn't afford to maintain.

It took me a while to work up the nerve for my first post, and much longer to get around to any kind of substantive comment, and now you can't shut me up.

I've been a Monster Kid since I was 7 years old and, until the CHFB, I'd never really known any others.  When I was a kid my brother and our friends all enjoyed the monster movies and would read my FMs, but it was just passing, disposable fun to them.  It was an obsession, a true love with me.  I knew others like me existed because I read of them in the magazines and fanzines.  But I never met another fellow horror fan.  So the CHFB is the community I never knew and always wanted to.

So much gratitude to all who started it, all who maintain it at such a high level, and all who join in the discussions that keep it alive.  Happy Anniversary to all of us.

If you want to know what God thinks of money, just look at the people he gave it to.                                                                                     Dorothy Parker
