Here is the "Monster" alongside an early Don Post Frankenstein. You can see one of these Don Post Franks in the magic shop pics with Natalie Wood earlier in this thread. It was advertised in Famous Monsters alongside the Topstone masks....

This is a vintage, rubber Keith Ward "Monster." Today, collectors refer to this character as the "Four-Bolt Frankenstein." This could be the only known surviving example of this iconic 50s/60s mask.

Today I received an email from Darrell V. of VXX-FX. He had read this thread and wanted to set something straight regarding his original "standard" version Shock Monster mask. The mask was molded off of Darrell's vintage Shock Monster...

Re: Extra large Halloween masks 1961  (reply)
Ben Cooper made some masks kind of like that. They had a giraffe and a dragon and some others. Their Land of the Giants masks we're also oversized, but they came out a few years later.

Using the same directory, I see that C T Corporation System, formed in CT, is supposedly still in business. It is listed as a stock company (brokerage?) located at 111 Eighth Ave. in New York. I think "stock" refers to its classification...

Re: Topstone masks  (reply)
I see no reason to think there was another Topstone Rubber Co. operating in Connecticut during the same era. I would surmise that this merger has some connection to Keith Ward selling the company. I have not been able to trace the chain...

Re: Topstone masks  (reply)
From my interview with Hoyenski, it seems Bayshore was the one trying to acquire Topstone. They failed, or decided against it. I don't know if Topstone in 1978 simply acquired the name Bayshore or the entire company, including its mask...

Re: DRACULA vs FRANKENSTEIN (reply)
I bought the new Dracula vs. Frankenstein DVD a few days ago. It is a big improvement over the Troma DVD. I was surprised by how detailed and colorful this new master looks, especially during the climax. It makes the Troma release...

Re: Curse of Bigfoot (reply)
The fact that it is a "mummy" Bigfoot instead of a "real" Bigfoot is what makes this cockamamie film kind of creepy and surreal. The concept reminds me of Horror Express, one of my favorite films.

Dante Renta directed me to this video of Ed Sullivan wearing a Topstone Caveman. You get a lot of caveman for your money in this video.

I've asked this before here and in other forums, but I seem to be in the presence of highly informed COB scholars, so I will ask again. Does anyone know of the existence of any official movie paper on Curse of Bigfoot or Teenagers Battle...

Re: Curse of Bigfoot (reply)
The 1972 date seems to be the result of a mix-up. In August 1972, CURSE OF BIGFOOT was announced by First Leisure Corp. of Hollywood as a sequel to the John Carradine/Joi Lansing flick BIGFOOT. Although that sequel was never made, the...

She already received a Rondo in this category. Very deservedly. She is probably my favorite "fan artist," as far as illustrators go. Is this category just for illustrators and painters? I'd like to nominate Matt Jaycox for this award....
