All those establishing shots really add to the vibe of the film, and the inserts are great, too - -my favorite being the closeup of the bite marks on Lucy's throat, taken from the Spanish version.
...Also it needs to be stated that Clark's edits are seamless and professionally done; a first-time viewer of the film would never know that pieces of it had been cobbled from another movie.

Unfortunately, I forgot to grab my DVD from home this year, so I watched your re-cut on YouTube instead. It was very interesting. In the "Spanish Dracula" thread I commented on your re-edited clip of the big Van Helsing/Dracula confrontation. Seeing it in the context of your rejiggered cut of the film, my feelings on that scene haven't changed. And some of the shots pulled from the Spanish version didn't really add much of a punch (I think you should have pulled some hiss from an otherwise silent scene from the Browning film to cover the inserts). The one that caused an actual problem IMO was the clip of Lucy screaming as she's staked. Without being able to show Harker and Van Helsing emerging from the cemetary and delivering the dialogue from the Spanish version, that clip doesn't really resolve anything. With the film left as is, Van Helsing's comment that he will "presently" join Harker and Mina always implied (to me) that he had one more coffin to find that night, to fulfill his promise to Mina to free Lucy from the spell of the vampire. If that clip of Lucy screaming can fit anywhere in the English version, it is as a coda after Harker and Mina ascend the staircase.
Thank you, zDBZ--I was scratching my head after watching "Dracula" (Browning) again, wondering if I missed the scene where the Lucy story is resolved. I wondered why Van H stayed behind!
