May 16 12 3:26 PM More My Recent Posts	The preview playing with The Avengers left me totally underwhelmed. The action seems well done, the visuals are good, but the story seems like "didn't I just see this movie?" Way down the list of movies to see. Why do I have to waste my time outwitting morons?

Jun 18 12 7:01 PM More My Recent Posts	I don;t think the definitive Spider-man film has been made, and I'll go watch this one, but I don't like the changes they made to the costume and the history of the character, and I hate it that he speaks with a muffled tone. KNow he's wearing a mask, but it's a sound effect that can be played with.

Jun 18 12 7:13 PM More My Recent Posts	The way I see it, a character lasts only as long as a writer and an artist are creating it. Change the team, and for all practical purposes it's a new character. This new movie is just the latest in a long line of Spider-Men, far as I'm concerned.

I have yet to see that aspect done well.< Robert, I wonder if that isn't one of those things that works in a comic, but on film might fall into TV Batman camp? Also, "comic time," where you can say whole sentences while punching and being punched (or if it's by Roy Thomas, whole paragraphs!) is not the same as "live-action time.'

Like the old saying goes it's not what you say but how you say it punched up with some more modern day dialogue would probably come off fine. The "timing"would have to be different I guess. Between punches...or maybe while Spidey swings around the villain out of reach. Taunting, teasing and wisecracking until he gets the bad guy to do something stupid. Now and then though he would have to take some hits because of pausing to crack wise. Moments like that could be amusing. Kind of the way Columbo drove the suspects nuts. Robert T.

Jun 19 12 5:18 AM More My Recent Posts	Gotta say, I love the part in the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN trailer where he feigns fear and says "You've found my weakness .... little knives!!" before splatting the guy to the wall with his webbing. Seemed right on to me, bodes well. Joss Whedon did an excellent job of sprinkling wisecracks throughout THE AVENGERS, both in and out of battle, some visual and some verbal. Now, there's only one Joss Whedon, but he shows us that it CAN be done effectively in a movie.
