I was watching a video of the toughest players in the NFL and i think just about every hit on display would be a fine today. I miss all the characters from football from years ago also. It was almost borderline pro wrestling. Now we have egomania substituting for personality and it's a poor substitute.

Before the game one of the Eagle's assistant coaches warned Zendejas what was happening, so he knew it was coming and wanted revenge after it happened. Geez, how the game has changed. May 4 12 1:05 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Until Rex physically attacks another coach during the game he won't approach the classlessness of his father. Buddy was devious, self centered, and braggadocios, but he was also alot of fun to watch. You never new what outrageous thing he was going to do or say and he definitely knew how to antagonize his opponents. After the Bounty Bowl, Jimmy Johnson stated at his news conference, "I have absolutely no respect for the way they played the game, I would have said something to Buddy, but he wouldn't stand on the field long enough. He put his big, fat rear end into the dressing room." After being told of Johnson's remarks, at his news conference Buddy's responded "I resent that. I've been on a diet, lost a couple of pounds. I thought I was looking good."

It's so rare in baseball, or in any other field, that you can point to someone and say, with confidence, "that's the best ever." But that's Rivera. The best relief pitcher, indubitably the best closer in the history of baseball. I assume he's done for good, since he was probably gonna retire after this season, but this is certainly not the way anyone wanted to see that fabulous career end. There is no joy in Gotham.

The second meeting between the teams that year in philly was dubbed "Bounty Bowl II" by CBS sports. They advertised the game, which was shown on national televisions, with pictures of players and coaches on wanted posters. They really stoked up the fans for that one and it turned out to be a giant fiasco. We had a really large snow storm two days before the game was played, but Norman Brahman (a Miami car salesmen who owned the Eagles at the time) was to cheap to pay anyone to remove the snow from the seats at the Vet. By halftime the game was over, so the fans started amusing themselves by throwing snowballs at anything they could; the cowboys on the field, the TV Broadcasters, and even the Eagle players that tried to get them to stop. Legend has it that the snowball throwing was started by our then former District Attorney and future Mayor and Govenor Ed Rendell when he bet his friend he could reach the field with a snowball from his seats. He has never issued a denial when confronted with these allegations. The two scenes I best remember from that game was the barrage of snowballs that hit the cowboys punter as he was punting out of his own end zone and the barrage that met Jimmy Johnson and his perfect hairdew as he tried to exit the field surrounded by Philly police officers. Some may argue Trevor Hoffman was better he did mostly play on lot less talented San Diego Padres teams but I think both were above and beyond everyone else. Luis

His levity in the face of defeat is legendary and i miss that sort of casual post game banter where a loss isn't the end of the world. My favorite is when he was asked about his teams execution and he said it was a good idea haha.

May 6 12 12:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I just looked at the standings before coming to the Board and had the exact same the-world-is-upside-down feeling. But Swisher and Gardner will return, Robinson Cano will start to hit like he always does, Andy Pettitte will show up and either he'll be nearly as good as he was, or, if he isn't, there will be some wheeling and dealing. The Yankees will come back to, or near, the top. The Sox? I dunno. I know they also have a boatload of injuries, but I'm just not sure that roster is really as good as the Red Sox usually are.

Eli didn't seem as relaxed at hosting as his brother Peyton but Eli was a great sport at some of the skits (The, "big Brother" commercial, the courtroom banana pic , The video game touchdown dance etc.) Dear Auto correct, Would you please stop correcting my swear words you piece of shut?

Eli was very good, however, very committed, very willing to go out on a limb, and very funny. It was a good show. But, yes, Peyton was an even better host. I think he was, far and away, the best non-show biz host SNL has ever had. Really funny and showed some genuine acting ability. Maybe working in 20 million tv commercials does that for you. (Other good sports hosts were Michael Jordan, and, especially, Derek Jeter. But neither of them were as good as the Mannings.)

LeBron James wasn't a natural actor during his hosting attempt but his bit on the SOLID GOLD collection commercial spoof was hilarious.
