I saw the movies and enjoyed them well enough, and I certainly remember all the coverage in FM. But I watched the show for a couple of weeks and found it just an immense, crashing bore and gave up on it. So, personally, a comic take on the original doesn't offend me. But that's just me.

It well may not be a true comedy in the definition of one. We've briefly seen maybe 5 - 7 minutes of scenes from a 1 hour and 53 minute movie. It's possible the Warner Brothers' marketing department decided to emphasize the offbeat humor in the movie to distinguish itself from all of the other vampire movies that have overpopulated the theater during the last few years and another vampire movie promoted as a serious thriller may just be white noise to the general public. The other 1 hour and 46 minutes may have more Gothic thriller, gore, scares and drama in it not shown, despite the fact its humor and being billed as a comedy."Cabin in the Woods" is billed as a horror movie, but it was one of the funniest movies of the year I've seen with almost equal parts humor and horror, but it is not considered a comedy, nor does it really fall into the camp of representing only one genre. It's kind of a mixed bag. Same with "An American Werewolf in London". Sure it's a comedy, but it also works as a horror movie with genuine scares and vice versa. The movie on the surface may seem like a misfire for fans of the original Dark Shadows and already viewed as a flop, but most people I've talked to not familiar with the original source material think it looks great and can't wait to see it. This seems like a movie with no middle ground.... you're either going to love it or hate it.I'm going to give it a chance. It may surprise all of us being a huge hit as well as an entertaining movie and I know I'm looking forward to seeing it, even if ther is a chance I'll be disappointed with the end result.
