Don't read any further if you've stumbled on this thread as the following will be the place to reveal and discuss ALL spoilers from the movie. Let's begin as "The Lambs have come to the killing floor"......

Apr 23 12 10:47 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Good one GAL! For starts I consider this movie to be a black comedy about the end of the world. I know that the world probably can't end because of "ancient ones" but that doesn't change what this film is about, and that's why I compared it to DR. STRANGELOVE in the other thread. I also think that this movie is an answer to the question," Would it be the end of the world if filmmakers strayed from formulaic endings?" This film does just that and low and behold the world does come to an end. When I said that this was one of the best movies of its kind that I'd seen in recent years I didn't mean horror film. I meant nihilistic black comedy. I think as time passes this could be considered a great film.

Apr 23 12 11:12 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I think the audience at the showing I attended had a hard time accepting the "end of the world" concept. They were on board with the gimmick of of the suits manipulating the horror for some unknown sacrificial ritual and everyone laughed, screamed and cheered at all the right parts of the movie, but when that giant hand escaped and crushed the cabin in the lat 5 minutes, everyone in the theater let out a collective groan. I loved the entire movie as well and have seen it twice now, but for some reason I kind of feel a little cheated the way the movie ended. It just seemed too simple and offbeat of an explanation of what we just sat through for the last 90 minutes. I give it a 4 and a half stars out of 5 because the ending just did not work for me. Apr 23 12 11:41 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I agree that showing the hand coming up at the end( which was kind of a take on the shock ending of CARRIE ) was not neccessary. Our imaginations will always conjure up greater horrors than can be shown us on a movie screen. However, having th estoner live was crucial to the end of the world scenario which I think was the point of the movie; to symbollically satirize the whole cookie cutter Hollywood system of filmmaking where endings are determined by focus groups and track records of whats gone on before. Five stars out of five for me!

I don't get why there should be two. Who reads a discussion about a movie, hoping to not find out anything about said movie?!

The mods don't want spoilers discussed in the topic thread until the movie has made the rounds for awhile, but this is one of those movies where you really can't talk about it without giving something away and then having someone mad at you because they read it. OF course I don't know why someone would still read a thread for a movie they want to see knowing spoilers may be discussed. Everyone should just stay away from a current release thread until they see it and then the problem is solved...

Apr 23 12 1:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Did anyone notice what other monsters were held captive in the glass cubes when the stoner and the girl were lowered into the floor? It whizzed by so fast when they pulled back for a wide-screen shot that I couldn't tell if they had monsters from other horror movies represented. It would have been cool to see some Harryhausen or Universal creatures honored with a tip of hte hat to the classics.

I know that sounds weird, but I could have sworn I saw the Shining twins in one of those cubes and when their door opened it looked like a huge gust of blood shot out. This made me laugh my ass off.
