At this point we have no idea if we might make a June deadline, because we're going to do at least three CDs at the time (DM plus two others) to reduce printing costs.  So every star must be aligned in order to meet that deadline.  For all I know, they'll come out in September!  Will know more in a month or so, but we have other non-soundtrack deadlines, too, so that June date is just a hope.  As our shipping is pretty darn low, you might want to consider ordering now and then later.  You'd probably end up spending an extra two dollars over the course of six months, and I don't think the economy is that bad at this point!

All the CDs arrived today, a few days earlier than expected, and are ready to ship to anyone desiring to purchase them!

Thanks, David! I think the reviewer spent more time writing his reviews than I did writing the notes! One thing not mentioned in his theme of how we're spreading out from strictly monster scores is that quite a bit of music used in such classic monster movies as CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, TARANTULA, etc. derived from earlier, non-monstrous genres like westerns, swashbucklers, melodramas, crime thrillers, etc. So our "branching out" is not that different as it might seem on the surface. But I promise that our next three CDs due out this year will be from three more sci-fi films of the 1950s. A couple will be from scores nobody ever thought would be released (and no, they're not INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS or INVADERS FROM MARS -- that music just doesn't exist in any usable form!)

THE INTRUDER was the favorite score of my friend Herman Stein, so I wanted to do that for him. And it was more of a tribute album for him rather than something aimed at MMM customers, because Herman and I were best friends for many years and it was just something I wanted to do, which was why we recorded a new piece of his on that album. But the slight detour from sci-fi wasn't our first such move, as we had already recorded TARZAN music, and quite a few cues from Universal's sci-fi pictures originally came from westerns and melodramas and other pictures, something documented in our notes. Since then, we added OPEN SECRET to PROJECT MOON BASE, although some will associate some of that music with ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN.

As for the two Gold scores just released, I've always loved his music. My wife studied composition privately with him for many years and he and his wife were friends of our family. Over the years I've helped and advised various members of the Gold family in musical-business matters, and Ernest's extended family includes Marni Nixon, the famous Hollywood singer who was his first wife, as well as son Andrew, a well-known and respected pop/rock musician. That's why I have some "family photos" in the booklet of THE MCCULLOCHS.

I wasn't able to include as much information in the liner notes for SHIP OF FOOLS as I wanted to pertaining to Gold's bio, so I looked for another Gold project to work on. As I was good friends with actress Julie Adams, it seemed like a natural to do THE MCCULLOCHS, not just because of her and because it's Gold, but because it's a terrific score and Ernest liked the music he wrote for it, which was extremely varied. I also liked a lot about the picture, and Julie liked the idea, so I decided to go with that. And Max Baer Jr. was really a pleasure to work with. And I'm pleased that everyone who has purchased THE MCCULLOCHS loves the CD. It's a great listen because it's not one or two themes in the same style beaten into the ground. It's Gold showing a whole wealth of ideas, genres, and arrangements. He was an incredibly gifted musician despite many people just associating a certain "Gold style" with him based on a couple of scores they've heard from him. Obviously, the man could do just about anything he tried, and do it well.
