Mar 27 12 12:12 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This Thursday TCM is airing the obscure 1966 French-Italian version of THE MAN WHO LAUGHS, starring the mighty Edmund Purdom. I saw a cruddy gray-market bootleg tape of this a few years ago... It's a lousy movie. But fans of the story might be curious, despite some plot changes. (The action's been transplanted to 16th century Italy, our hero is now named Angelo, and there are some ludicrous plot twists.)

I don't understand why TCM showed this "lousy movie" and continually refuses to show the silent version that features one of their favorite stars, CONRAD VEIDT?

Apr 2 12 2:37 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I agree, it is perplexing, but I will say this-- I tuned in and watched this lousy movie because it is obscure. If TCM had shown the silent version, I would not have watched, because I own the dvd and have seen it many times.

Apr 2 12 3:25 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Yeah, I don't need the silent version. On DVD, been shown on television and is easy to get. This remake is something I wasn't even aware of but thanks to this thread I was able to record it. I just got done watching it and it's certainly a bland movie but I did find it interesting just seeing how they tried to change the locations, story and so on. They just didn't have the money to make it work.
