Mar 9 08 4:40 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Does anybody know much about this superior 1933 murder mystery with Ginger Rogers in a pre-Fred Astair film role as the dizzy reporter trying to land a scoop? And Lyle Talbot as her man Friday? I just watched it and thought it was a solid hoot, the comedy works well, and the mystery is almost touching on sci-fi (a phantom aestheiest). Mar 9 08 8:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I saw this movie (it was on my Netflix list) a couple of years back. But, it was like many old dark house or low budget mysteries of the 30's & 40's; it becomes a blur with other films like "One Body Too Many" and "The Gorilla", etc..

Regarding A SHRIEK IN THE NIGHT I can't recall if I ever seen this one before but that plot sure sounds extremely familiar. Luis

Mar 10 10 11:52 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hello Dr Acula (ye of the many lovely avatars!), I just watched A SHRIEK IN THE NIGHT this evening. I found it on the "50 Horror Classics" collection. The print was actually pretty good, not too dark, and the audio passable. I found the movie to be enjoyable and, believe it or not..... SPOILER ALERT ....a real shocker when the murderer threw the heroine into the incinerator and nearly burned her alive! It really caught me by surprise. I think I gasped out loud, since that scene was so out of place compared to the rest of the movie. SPOILER OFF It may seem odd, but I'd rather spend 70 minutes with old, creaky genre films than two hours with todays slice-n-dice variety. Strangenstein

Feb 2 11 9:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I thought it had a nice combo of suspense and humor! Much better than The 13th Guest. If that had been all that Rogers/Talbot had done, I would've thought them unsuitable for working together, but they get everything right in A Shriek In The Night. My two favorite moments: 'You HAVE to have a NICKEL!!!' and the way the mousy assistant gingerly takes off his glasses, engages in battle, then gingerly puts them back on.

Puzzling, a mystery. Anyhow, the DVD from Netfliz was extremely dark. I'd love to see it as clear as this YouTube clip. Why do I have to waste my time outwitting morons?
