Feb 19 12 8:11 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I just watched the first 15 minutes and thought the zombies looked great. I stopped it because I'm now thinking I'll buy the BD. (I can only watch a film about once a year) How does the film hold up? I sure hope it doesn't go downhill from there.

I liked the setting, the acting, the occasional _very_ disturbing mutilated zombie... but the story was linear to a fault, starting at point A and ending at point B, with virtually no involvement from elsewhere. Both my wife and I felt it grew somewhat tiresome at times. But I do agree that it contained several nice cinemagraphic touches and camera angles. One minor quibble with an earlier comment. The American soldier wasn't in Africa to fight zombies. There was an apparent civil war going on, and zombie outbreak acted to halt it and bring both sides together. That particular idea might have been strengthened to make the film itself stronger. ... Reed

Zombies look good, some of the best CGI gore/blood I've ever seen (realistic, actually) and the cinematography is really nice. But it doesn't go anywhere and doesn't take any chances, which is a shame since the setting and circumstances lent themselves to something great. I'd watch it again, but don't think I'd buy it. I was thinking the same but they obviously didn't have the budget to expand the story and supply it with enough actors with speaking parts to flesh it out. This sort of movie is what it is and fans of the genre will appreciate it far more than most.

But I compare it to the British World of the Dead:Zombie Diaries 2, and the German Rammbock: Berlin Undead, and this one ends up in third place. ... Reed

Feb 21 12 7:02 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I enjoyed it for what it was and in my opinion,its just about the only film in recent memory that brings back the look and feel of the Euro zombie boom of my youth and several scenes made me think of a much better HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD. I loved the minimalist makeup (I'm completely tired of overdone prosthetics laden zombies at this point),the locations and best of all,the fact that zombies are lurching on the edges of nearly every scene. Can't stand zombie films where people running for their lives always find time to stop and have long winded chit chats in completely unsafe environments (looking at you,WALKING DEAD). At this point,ANY zombie film not aping Romero with American settings is fine by me and I welcome the third world/voodoo overtones of the 80's films. My favorite part of the film was the zombies were probably the slowest in film history and were way more menacing than any sprinting,spastic drooling track zombie in the past decade. Loved the crippled one on the beach who dragged himself along at a snails pace until he was close to his prey and he sped up to close in. Creeped my wife out quite a bit. I think I liked it more the second time around, not that I didn't like it enough the first time... it's nice because it doesn't fall into the stupider cliches most zombie movies fall into. The only thing I thought could be improved is the ending. I can't think of how to describe it without spoiling it, but I'll just say the movie ended on the final scene a bit too soon. I would have liked to see what happened in the next few moments. They didn't have to do anything beyond that; just the next few moments to see what he does. As it is, it works well enough with the film that I can't complain. A perfect Monster has no end...
