Ben was correct that the basement was a trap, and his escape plan was largely undone by the thickheadedness of the two kids. Ben was just star-crossed. But that wasn't because he made poor decisions.

True enough. It's always easy to play Monday morning QB, but Ben's decisions were the most sound in that particular situation. If they ended up locked and isolated down in the cellar there were then NO other alternatives. Plus no way to know when help (if ever) would come. 7 people with very little food and limited water. What if help never came? What if they were stuck for 10 days like that? There was a girl that needed medical help (of course they had no way of knowing that the bite would kill the girl so quickly). Then they knew about the aid stations. The option of ever reaching them would also be closed. The cellar was a bad option. Robert T
