A few days ago on Video WatchBlog, I decided to start keeping track of all the movies I see and writing down my immediate thoughts about them. It felt like a valuable new discipline, something to keep my writing muscle in shape while also helping me with my short term memory. (The question "Have you seen anything good lately?" has the most uncanny way of making me forget everything I've seen recently.) But as this screening diary, as I was calling it, began to accumulate, it looked wrong on the WatchBlog, so I've decided to use this New Year's Day to inaugurate a new spin-off blog. I'm calling it "Pause. Rewind. Obsess." and it will deal with every feature film I see this year -- whether it's on Blu-ray, DVD, bootleg DVD-R, some ancient laserdisc or import VHS, or (shudders!) seen in a theater. I won't promise daily blogging, but I'll make up for the rare days I will take off. I've posted about four different movies within the first 24 hours, so I daresay we'll have quite a bit more than 365 reviews by the end of the year!
I hope you'll all join me in this new venture!
