(visions of $ dancing in their heads....) "What? You're changing the ending to something horribly downbeat, that gives the audiance a sucker punch, and generates TONS of negative word-of-mouth?"

bipolarber wrote: Yeah, that was one omission that I think DID improve the overall storyline... I remember reading the original story and hitting that scene, and going... "Wha-?" (Obviously, King was indulging in a little "Penthouse Forum" fantasy... "I'm a graphic artist in a small Maine town, and I never thought this would happen to me...") It just struck me as being WAY out of place... LOL

( I realize yours is an old post. ) Saw this at the library but didn't paw it ... yet. Is it OK for young teens? For example, "Re-Animator" DEFINITELY is off limits for now. I mean, a head giving head? Uh-uh!!!

Geezermonster wrote: When we saw THE MIST the ending brought a really big audience reaction. Nervous laughter, shock, shouts of "Oh No!" We both laughed because it seemed to be so out of tune with the rest of the movie, implying all that these brave, intrepid characters did was truly stupid and unnecessary. We just didn't feel that these people, after all they had been through, would have made the decision to off themselves so quickly without waiting a few more hours or days. They apparently had some food from the grocery and were safe in the car from at least the smaller creatures, if not the bigger ones. So why kill themselves as soon as the car ran out of gas? The ending seemed to turn everything on its head and imply that the crazy morons back on the grocery were the smart ones.
