In other words,feed it through the Italian Exploitation meatgrinder.

Funny you should mention it, because having borrowed the DVD of UP FROM THE DEPTHS, I kept thinking that it reminded me an awful lot of the recent PIRANHA 3D film. Maybe its just that all the underwater monster attack films borrow from each other a bit, but there was a number of elements that struck me as similar enough to make me wonder if PIRANHA 3D had cribbed a lot from UFTD - but maybe it was cribbing from PIRANHA 2 which cribbed from UFTD? As to UFTD it was a very silly film. It starts okay, and I think it had some actors who - if they'd been given better material - could have made for a good film. But the end is a total mess - like they shot a lot of footage, didn't like it, shot more footage and then hoped that editing it would save the production. Also not sure why anyone would think making a horror film have a long comedy "goofy tourists hunt the sea monster" sequence 3/4 of the way through the film was a good idea.

Jan 27 12 9:42 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	David Cronenberg's THE BROOD was issued on a double bill with UP FROM THE DEPTHS, and my sister took me to see both. As soon as I noticed Cronenberg's name, I knew that film would be scary and intense, and it was. We were relieved to view DEPTHS second, since the unintended laughs were more frequent than the scripted ones, definitely not a Roger Corman title that could ever stand on its own.
