Still don't know how they got the camera to follow Martin Balsam down the stairs in that scene.

After "Mother" has stabbed Arbogast and you hear him cry out, she recoils the knife, which shows no blood on it, as this screen capture shows. Arbogast was also stabbed in the face at the top of the stairs, as well.Is it a mistake in that when Arbogast enters Bate's office , you can see Bates walking outside with what appears to be a sheet -should there have been enough time for him to presumably cover a bed in one of the cabins, double back to the house, and change into Mother at the room at the top of the stairs in the narrow time frame without Arbogast seeing him re-enter the house? Arbogast did spend some time in Bates office, but was it enough time? Answering my own question, I guess it *had* to be.

Notice that the wounds inflicted on Mr. Arbogast at the top of the stairs appear to have disappeared when he reaches the floor below. We do get a good look at his forehead and no blood.

It looks like about thirteen steps on this screen capture, and if we add what's not shown, it's probably close to twenty steps or even more to reach the top. This is about when he starts his ascent, and you can see on the counter it is 0:58At the point he reaches the top it is 1:19, or about twenty one seconds later, which seems to me accurate, it should take him about a second per step. This is when he starts his descent, it is 1:21He reaches the ground at 1:27 or about six seconds after falling, he obviously fell a lot faster than walking up the stepsThe mother figure was upon him by 1:28 or about a second later. The discrepancy is how could the Mother figure get to him so quickly after he fell down about twenty steps, she had to walk the steps, epecially given how long it took for Arbogast to climb up originally. In orther words, I think it should have taken Mother longer to reach him than she did. Also, I would think if she pushed him off the steps, she would wait until he landed before starting her descent. But I think that she stabbed him so quickly after he landed adds to the drama of the scene. You can see on the video how quickly the Mother figure was moving when we see her at the end, I wonder if she could run down twenty steps like that. Can someone take an educated guess from where Mother made that rush towards him to kill him at the end?
