Never expect them on Japanese domestic releases; the Japanese don't need English subtitles, and Toho doesn't want these to cut into future US licensee's sales. So, no English subtitles. The initial post in this thread doesn't give the release date for these, which is September 18, 2009 -- incidentally, four days before (Japan Time) Classic Media releases their Blu-Ray of the original GODZILLA in the US.

Personally, as far as subs go I've seen those movies so many times I know all the lines dubbed by heart, plus knowing some Japanese helps me connect the dots where I don't.

Hopefully they'll be more, I'm surprised they picked Biollante and not Mothra vs. Godzilla or Return of Godzilla. Final Wars and not GMK is an even odder choice.

Perhaps they are doing a cross-section of periods, Showa, Heisei, and Crapsei? Good to see RODAN and MOTHRA out of the gate right away, too. Can't wait to see how they've been improved for HD.

Crapsei lol. I have to say at 45 bucks sans shipping (based on the value of the yen) is a pretty damn good price. I'd rather buy the Toho Blu-Ray than the CM one any day of the week.

Mothra is coming out in August from Sony, but otherwise no. Biollante has never had a US DVD release, but it did have an LD one.

I don't know any Japanese, but even I can follow these movies at this point. I can't wait to see them in HD. RODAN will look like the Gone with the Wind of the Kaiju genre.
