Fantasy Film World of Bernard Herrmann -- Bernard Herrmann
Herrmann conducts new recordings of suites from Journey to the Center of the Earth, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Fahrenheit 451. As was typical of his re-recordings, Herrmann tends to conduct at a slower tempo. But the sound is big and lush. Robin and Marian -- John Barry This bittersweet love story gets a lovely bittersweet love song. The rest of the score is forcefully dramatic, some, but not all, cues have Bondian flashes. |

I was over on YouTube checking out Alan Hawkshaw music. I love this guy's stuff. And a friend sent me a video link to a musical performance that I must
have run a dozen times tonight. Try it out, it's remarkable (but turn up the sound, it's rather quiet at first): http://videos.komando.com/2009/06/18/african-thunderstorm/

Ryan!!!! (great to see your avatar/picture by the by) you have made my day; a rather bleak rainy Kansas morning-- by sharing those fabulous videos of
Perpetuum Jazille. Their version of Toto's Africa is outstanding. I also dug their Bee Gee's medley from July 1 on Video of
the Day.
Thanks again. Have a great Fourth! Jay ps. I also love Alan Hawkshaw and most of the great British "library music" composers of the 60s and early 70s.

Fort Worth Teen Scene! Volume Two -- Local Fort Worth bands from the 1960s are highlighted. Bands with names like Visions, Cynics, Bards,
Elite, Roots, Jack the Rippers, and Snowmen dotted the local music scene back then. Some of the better known were Larry and the Blue Notes, Jades, Barons, and
Mods. Nomads featured local guitar/musician legend Bill Ham. Barons featured guitarist/songwriter Nitzinger. Barons recorded in the Dallas Summit Sound
Studio at the same time the Five Americans were recording "Western Union." Many of these bands were produced by another local guy, T-Bone Burnett.
Mods had a #1 hit locally on KFJZ.
