RE; Stanley Potter (Jack Mullvaney) | ||
|
Someone asked about Jack Mullvaney(Staney Potter in one of my favorite films TICKLE ME). I was in a movie poster store sometime in the 80s in Cininnatti Ohio, and bought a still from aTICKLE ME that had him in it with Elvis and the lovely Jocyln Lane. The owner of the store informed me that Mullvaney had been in his store and was living in Cininnatti, and had died recently. I really was sad to here that because I really liked him. He was in the series IT'S ABOUT TIME along with DR GOLDFOOT. So he lived in Cininnatti Ohio in the 80s and passed away. I think it was 84 or 85.

TICKLE ME...an Elvis film I'd like to see on DVD. Julie Adams, Allison Hayes, and a Scooby Doo style story involving a haunted ghost town and hidden gold. (Although the Elvis outings VIVA LAS VEGAS with Ann-Margaret and LIVE A LITTLE, LOVE A LITTLE with Michele Carey had their charms, as well...namely Ann-Margaret and Michele Carey!)

An interesting tidbit from the
current Wiki article:
Vincent Price stated in a 1987 interview with David Del Valle that the original script was a camp musical, comparing it to Little Shop of Horrors. Price stated, "It could have been fun, but they cut all the music out," though he is not clear whether the footage was actually shot or the idea was abandoned during production. An AIP Television special that appeared on Shindig! in November 1965 called The Wild Weird World of Dr. Goldfoot featured many songs that may have been cut from the cinema release. And guess what? The Shindig/Goldfoot episode is on YouTube! Were most of these songs the ones from the film? PART 1 PART 2 PART 3
"I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous
that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I cannot transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in
intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls." - Anaïs Nin

That Shindig episode is also available on the Vincent Price: The Sinister Image DVD.
"The important question is not, are there aliens on other worlds? No. The important question is, do they have ray guns?"

Thanks for the link. I saw the TV special back in 1965. I really like Harvey Lembeck in this. Too bad he wasn`t in the movie. I`m pretty sure the song Lembeck
sings is not in the movie. I`ve got the DVD so I should give it a spin.

I can't say enough in favor of the Beach Movies. The rest of the world can have cute little diversions like those Godfather / Star Wars / Terminator /
Indiana Jones series. But to me, THIS was a movie series.

If one is so inclined you can watch both Dr. Goldfoot movies at Hulu.

rvoyttbots wrote:Actually, he was in it in a cameo. This film had a whole parade of them, one funnier than the rest. I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen the movie, but it comes right after Lembeck's. I never got to see "It's About Time" again, till a year ago on YouTube. Jack Mullaney was pretty entertaining on it. And of course Frank Aletter played a completely comical stranded character (as opposed to his more serious one on "Danger Island"). |

I remember Lembeck`s cameo now. I was saying too bad his Malcolm character from the special wasn`t in the film instead of Mullaney. Never did care for him. And
how HOT was Susan Hart.

As a lad I thought Vincent Price was very cool. So did Tim
Burton … see his short film Vincent. In the movies he lived in those cool castles. In the movies he had the airship Albatross. In the movies he was
shacking-up with Barbara Steele, Hazel Court, Debra Pagent, and whoever that busty babe from The Haunted Palace that he
raised from the dead. Definitely cool.
After looking at the clips from the Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine special it's clear to me that I saw that as a kid. Whoa … Vincent Price could mass-produce mid 1960s starlets? Man! My admiration for him knew no bounds. I still think it's a good idea.
Too short (for what?) and too tall (again … for what?) and in the center Susan Hart is apparently just right.

Susan Hart would have been plenty for me. Even better, four Susan Harts.

One of them was played by Alberta Nelson, who always played a member of the biker gang in the regular beach movies. Her robot character was an accidental
"hermaphrodite" one, with a dubbed-in man's voice. I wonder how she felt about the joke, considering she could certainly have played one of the
seductive robots as well as anyone!
What's a little surprising is that Bobbi Shaw didn't end up in this movie. |
