This has been one of the MOST fun weekends I've had in a LONG time. Seeing so many friends and acquaintances, being overwhelmed by the BEAUTY of the
sculptures and artwork, and impressed by how KIND everyone is...I am proud to be a part of this culture.
Great to meet Kerry, bother Ted a little bit, and talk a while with Sam. Connected with Joe Moe briefly. And that Brinke Stevens is a peach! Sara Karloff and Sparky dropped by on Saturday. What a treat to see them! Verne Langdon is a sweet bear of a man...loved meeting him for the first time. And a special shout-out to the Chaney family...a nicer group you'll never meet. Wonderful individuals, all. Ahhh...back to real life soon... |

Dropped by yesterday and had the privilege of meeting Modpro and Count Gamula. Nicer guys you couldn't meet. And the 'museum' was every bit as
impressive as it looks from those pics. This was a great time.

This is the first time I've seen Brinke Stevens in person. I was surprised at how petite she is. Tiny 'lil thang!
Also, a word about the Marriott Hotel & Convention Center...

A great gathering of Monster Kids at Monsterpalooza on Sunday!
Count Gamula watches Jim Warren and Verne Langdon pull on Dracula's cape (or a black trash bag).
Joe Moe and Kerry Gammill.
The Chaney women: Linda and Jennifer.
John and Richard Hatch, I mean, Heft.
Jelly Roll Norton and Professor Gutridge (The Indestructible Man).
Guess who?
Frank Dietz. The man. The artist. The legend.
With Tracy and Shannon John Shea (see Shannon's latest work in DRAG ME TO HELL and on his website for PHANTOM HARBOR).
I love this photo. Shannon is the greatest!
With Bela Lugosi, Jr.
Daniel Roebuck reacts to seeing the Son of Dracula.
Life imitates art.
Julia Adams.
Danny and little ol' Jennifer Blaire. Somebody teach them how to play to the camera. So dull... ;-)
Boris sips tea.
Emmy-winning make-up artist John Goodwin, who also did the honors for Bob Burns' "The Thing" Halloween show in 2003.
Guess who?
A Chiodo Brother with Taylor White.

So, JW certainly had some interesting stuff to say about Forry, huh?

Terrrific photos, everyone! Looks like a great gathering. I really wish we could have made it out there.
If it hadn't been so close to Wonderfest, we probably could have pulled it off. Maybe next year ... Thanks again for the great photo galleries ... The unveiling of the Don Post KONG was one of the highlights of the show for me. The FM issue with that article was the first I ever bought when I was a kid
and the first time I'd ever seen "How monsters are made!" Now that I've been making them for 33 years, I hope I have a better idea...

It is scary how many monster folks in those photos I can recognize simply by sight. A few I'm not sure, though. Sam, if you ever get a chance to put in
some IDs, I bet many here would appreciate it! Either way, great shots again.

Cinemacabre wrote: It was interesting, but nothing that most hardcore folks didn't already know about Forry. I don't really think anything he said was shocking or bad... it was pretty much indicative of the collective discussion on Forry as a person has been. There was nothing derogatory or slanderous; and what Jim Warren and Verne Langdon stated, was pretty much what I had gathered about Forry after meeting him numerous times at conventions and outtings at the Ackermansion... All of Warren's comments about the production of the magazine seemed true and accurate, based on having worked on several publications myself. Sometimes people lionize their heroes and it's hard for them to hear about their quirks or failings. But, I didn't hear anything condescending... both Langdon and Warren made sure to tell everyone that they loved Forry; Warren even said that Forry was one of the most generous and kind persons he ever met. With that being said, I did see Joe Moe shaking his head a few times (we were sitting directly behind him)...

It seemed that he was kinda making up for the fact that he has lived in Forry's shadow in regards to FM all these years and maybe felt he deserved to be
given a little more credit where credit is due. The only thing that seemed a bit off-putting is the timing, with Forry's passing being so fresh in our
minds.

Cleve, I see and understand your point; but what is the "right time," really? That's the question. A year, two years? Considering Jim
Warren's not a spring chicken himself, I guess it's better now than never.
(BTW, it was cool seeing you at the show--and I got to catch up with Johnny Saiko, too--he said he wants to have a get together with me, him and Steve real soon!) |

I made it there on Sunday and it was really great to meet Kerry and Frank and see Sam and good ol' Gutridge again. I'm the mugshot in the gray flannel
shirt next to Richard "Gutridge". I like how you can see through his shirt to see the true Indestructible Man beneath.

I was only able to be there a couple of hours on Saturday. I'm sorry I wasn't able to meet those of you who were there when I was. Hopefully next year!
