I haven't posted on this board before but "Mr. C" of madmags.com advised me here. My name is Thorsten and a few years ago I have written and published a book about Paul Naschy Memorabilia (Muchas Gracias, Senor Lobo!) on a complete "do-it-yourself"-basis and since then I have thought about doing a fanzine, only dealing with rare and hard to find posters and lobby sets that usually don't get coverage in other books and magazines.
I'm a collector myself for about 15 years now (with a focus on Naschy-items from all over the world) and I have experienced that it's often much more diffcult to find reliable information about foreign lobby sets from the 60s and 70s than about memorabilia from classic horror movies.
Together with a friend of mine we have just finished the 1rst Issue of CREEPY IMAGES - to our knowledge the 1rst and only fanzine entirely devoted to rare and hard to find memorabilia from horror- and exploitation movies from the 60s to the early 80s ;-)
We try to include only complete sets incl. posterartworks as well as some information about the items, a checklist and - if available - information about reprints and fakes and how to spot genuine items.
The first issue has 48 pages in full color and features:
- Joe D'Amato's Grim Reaper (complete (!!!) German lobbyset and both poster styles)
- Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre (complete French set and both poster styles)
- Ken Wiederhorn's Shockwaves (complete Italian fotobusta set and both poster styles)
- Andrea Bianchi's Burial Ground (complete German set and poster)
- Jess Franco's Dracula Prisoner of Frankenstein (complete Spanish set and poster)
We have also set up a small website including some examplepages: www.creepy-images.com
If you are interessted in this kind of exploitation-memorabilia, please have a look at it.
And if you got any thoughts about the project, suggestions etc., please let me know.
Best wishes
Thorsten
P.S. Here's the cover of the 1rst issue:
