Dec 9 07 2:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein. I had to ask myself if it really the best genre film of the 40s or was it just a sentimental favorite of mine. I'm still not sure. What I AM sure of is that if nuclear war broke out tomorrow, and I could only rescue ONE film from the above list to share with the future generations -- A&C Meet Frankenstein would be the one I'd grab before "Duck and Cver" time. Oct 3 08 6:56 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Personally, I just don't consider A&C MEET FRANK to be a "horror" or "fantasy" film. It's (supposedly) a COMEDY. After all, who is headlining the picture? It is not a horror film with comedic elements, such as RE-ANIMATOR or EVIL DEAD II. To me, there's a difference. (ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW isn't a horror or SF film, either -- it's a musical-comedy.) Had pictures such as THE THREE STOOGES MEET THE WEREWOLF WOMAN or THE MARX BROS. Does it have to be a horror AND fantasy film rather than a horror OR fantasy film. I agree that I would consider A & C MEET FRANKENSTEIN as more of an outright comedy. Feb 19 09 6:26 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	"Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein" is my choice as all round entertainment... but "The Body Snatcher" is a real classic horror film, redefining the genre in the mid 1940s. It's a good tale of obsession... and you have Karloff and Lugosi together for the last time! Karloff loved working with Val Lewton and you can see why!

Oct 11 09 5:01 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I picked Dr. Cyclops, because of its lavish, big budget production. This was quite possibly the first science-fiction or horror film to ever be filmed in color. It also had awesome special effects, which haven't aged too badly after almost 70 years. Curious how after this film, sci-fi would be dormant on the big screen for most of the '40s----before the Golden Age kicked off with a bang a decade later. Dr. Cyclops is quite a remarkable film, still quite entertaining even today.
