Never really gave it much thought until now but, while I have used both expressions, I probably tend to use the term "folder" more.

The term "folders" is a hold-over from our humble beginnings on the AOL message boards. To me it's easier to understand than "forums".
I think of this entire discussion board as the forum and the individual forums and topics as folders and sub-folders like when you navigate to specific files
on a computers. So, yes, the Yuku term for the different divisions of the CHFB is "forum" but you can think if them as folders within the main forum.
And a "topic" within a forum is the same as a "thread".

This could just possibly become the only discussion that would make the "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman Dissection" one seem interesting by
comparison.

I always see this place this way: Board > Folders > Threads (as in, this is the 'Will Magazines ... ' thread within the Magazine Folder)
But Yuku sees it this way: Board > Forums > Topics (as in, this is the 'Will magazines...' Topic within the Magazines Forum). Both are correct, I suppose, although I don't know anyone who calls our happy folders as 'Forums.' But ... david

I do, and always will, refer to them thusly: Country > State > City For example: I am currently posting a comment in the city of Will magazines go online, and other things... (Population 92) in the great state of Horror Film Books and Magazines in the land of Classic Horror Film Board. This keeps things simply and uses universal terms that anyone new to the board can easily understand. Probably Yuku should think about adopting my geography based terminology for all their boards (I mean continents)

OK. Amend that. I don't know many people who call them Forums.
Also, hope everyone sees I've split this thread, er, Topic, from the Ferry/Kim Topic, er, thread, to live anew here. Thanx, whatever you call these furshenlugger things! david |

To N00bz, they probably ought to be referred to in Yukuise just to avoid confusion. Otherwise, what does it matter. Folders, pockets, pouches, handbags,
ring-binders, caches, repositories,

Perfect. Just as we now call all dinosaurs "bunkysaurs" in order not to get hassled about capital letters, italics, etc.! |
