(Subotsky had Victor going after the brain of his deceased professor, Dr. Waldman.) Don't know if that was intentional, or simply coincidence. Hmmm... what are the chances? I know at least parts of the Subotsky script are reprinted in the recent Amicus issue of Little Shoppe of Horrors (the article should also have all the correct names of the various drafts). While I'm sure Sangster's script is better, I don't think the Subotsky drafts were nearly as terrible as Hinds and others would later remember it.

Feb 10 09 3:53 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	On the subject of frankenstein using his teeth to assist Shane Bryant whilst attaching the hand, it is an artery not stitching frankenstein grips with his teeth as his assitant says he cannot hold the artery it was too slippery. I love the scene where the creature tries to play the violin and becomes frustrated and smashes it, it's very sad and evoke a good deal of empathy Dave Prowes finest moment. Fu Manchu

It would certainly explain the origin of the sight gag in Top Secret, where Cushing had a magnifying glass up to his eye and when he lowered it, his eyes was still incredibly large. DK

Certainly with Terry Fisher he knew Monster From Hell would be the last Frankenstein, so he may have put it in as an homage to Curse.

I can't prove this myself as I don't have the DVD but I saw the following procedure on various Eggsites! "From the disc's Main Menu go to the 'Special Features' section and from there go to the 'Storyboards.' Once there, highlight the 'Special Features' menu entry at the bottom of the page and press the 'Right' arrow key on your remote control to highlight a magnifying glass around Peter Cushing's eye. Press 'Enter' and you will get to see the original footage used to create the Swedish Bookstore scene - only this time it is not backwards!"

Since a Cushing Frankenstein picture started the cycle of Hammer Gothics, it's nice to think of one bringing it to a close. Yes, F&MFH isn't the best of the bunch by a long shot, but I really do like the movie's closing scene with Cushing's Baron now clearly mad as a hatter. All along we think he's been merely hiding out in an insane asylum, but now we realize that's where he truly belongs!

I have still kept my import vhs copy (has Swedish subtitles) with all of the cut out scenes intact. The running time is hardly affected, but the above mentioned cut is somewhat obvious when you watch it.

Apr 17 09 2:42 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I finally, FINALLY got a copy of the Anolis uncut German DVD. Beautiful picture and sound quality. I agree with Monsterpal above; it's the last true Hammer horror, and I actually think that, if not right up there with the likes of DRACULA, CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, and FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED, it's not far under. I really, REALLY like this film. Cushing, Fisher and Bernard are back in fine form. The supporting cast is great, especially the uber-neurotic asylum director. I admit the monster makeup could've been better, but the character and portrayal of the monster I like just fine. A solid three-and-a-quarter stars out of four from me.
