Could one of the film's more vocal supporters, I'm thinking of either Modpro or Doctor Lamont, but would be happy to hear from anyone, please explain to me why it's OK for this version of Batman to be depicted as someone who would forsake the vow he made at his parent's graveside to dedicate his life to fighting crime, because he thought an honest DA had finally come along? Is that something your ideal of 'The Batman' would really consider? As far as I am aware even the best District Attorneys in cities the size of New York , Chicago or even Gotham could never bring an end to all violent crime. Couldn't a really dedicated Batman always find work? Say what you want about the earlier TV and film incarnations of the character, but I don't recall any of them being quitters. Imagine the plot of a James Bond film turning on Bond's decision to give up his "OO" status, and go raise bees with Moneypenny, because a really effective Secretary of State had just been appointed, one whose 'tough diplomacy' he felt would really make his job redundant. I guess you'd find that story-line satisfactory just as long as a colorful, scenery chewing nutjob, who cared little for power or money, showed up in time to wreck Bond's hopes for a peaceful retirement?
